Ecuador Tierra Viva invites all colleges and universities around the world to do their next biology field course at the Podocarpus National Park and other unique natural areas in Southern Ecuador.  We provide all the logistical services (i.e. transportation, food and  accommodation) an institution may need in order to carry out a productive biology field course in Southern Ecuador.

Please note that presently, it is very difficult to obtain export permits to take out specimens from Ecuador; hence, students must obtain all needed data in-situ.

Each institution should provide their own instructors, scientific equipment and all other teaching material.

In order for our field courses to become enjoyable and productive, we can only provide our services to a maximum of 28 people at a time.

Our field course services run all year long.  Specific field course dates should be chosen by each institution.

We have prepared a reference itinerary and price, based on a total trip length of 12 days and a group of 28 people.  Please follow the links below for  the mentioned reference biology field course or for the University of Toronto (UofT) Biology Field Course.  Please note that we can always change a specific itinerary to better suit the individual needs of each institution.

Reference Field Course: 12 days long.  Field courses may take place in several sites such as a dry arbustive forest in Vilcabamba, a cloud forest at San Francisco and a upper montane tropical rain forest at Bombuscaro, located inside the Podocarpus National Park. More>>

University of Toronto Field Course:  11 days long.  The class of UofT 2004, carried out their field course in a cloud forest at San Francisco, which is  located in the buffer zone of the Podocarpus National Park , and in a upper montane tropical rain forest located at Bombuscaro, inside the park itself.  More>>
