| | | A rustic and charming lodge, located within the heart of the Nangaritza Valley, the millenary home of the Shuar people. |
Yankuam in Shuar language means lonely star and Yankuam Lodge truly deserves this name having in mind that it is the only quality lodge located in the area. Yankuam is found at the end of the road that leads from the town of Guayzimi to the small town of Las Orquideas. It takes 3.5 hours to drive from Zamora, the capital of Zamora-Chinchipe province, to Yankuam Lodge. However, the lodge has a van available to pick up guests at the city of Zamora and take them to Yankuam. Although its rustic design this lodge is very comfortable and its food is absolutely great. The Nangaritza River, which is located only steps away from the lodge, also adds to the lodge's charm. The most imprtant fact, is that France and Frederick, a Swedish-Ecuadorian couple who owns and manges of Yankuam Lodge, are very great hosts willing to take the extra step in order to provide their guests with an excellent service. Yankuam Lodge is a great place to be used as the base camp or stepping stone to discover by boat the cultural wonders of the Shuar people and the breathtaking landscape of the Nangaritza Valley. Please note that due to logistics, reservations at Yankuam must be made at least one week before the first night of stay. | Rates per Person (12% Tax Included) | | Single or Double Room (includes breakfast) | $18 US | | Meals (lunch, dinner) | $8 US | | Transfer-in or out | $10 US |
